October 2015
Dear Members, It's O.K. you've been thinking about it, but now is the time to respond to the 10 point questionnaire.  A fair representation from the chapter has been received but we want to hear from you.  There is still time to include your thoughts in the results which will be announced at the October Chapter meeting.  To those who have responded already, thank you.

Something NewA different twist on workshops.  Arrive at the Beaverton Library  at 12:50 before the doors open so we can begin shortly after 1:00pm. .  Bring an item that you are working on or would like help with or, one which you have done an interesting repair.   Or, bring a challenge item for the group to recommend a possible solution.  You could return at a future meeting with the item and show how it turned out--as Paul Harvey always said, here's "The rest of the story".
Can't make this event?  Be sure to look under the "Education"  tab on this website and check out the complete presentation of Stephen Nelsons "Tid-Bits".

Nominating Committee:  Terry White heads up the nominating committee.  Check the website for his listing of positions and ones needing to be filled.  Please consider one of the various open positions as an opportunity to contribute back to your Chapter.   Your participation, large or small is needed now.

Mike Daggett passed away only months after his arrival back in Portland. His daughter Mary Daggett’s address is 1334 N 22nd. Avenue, Portland, OR 97232.
Clock Class: for health reasons, Roger Alexander is no longer able to continue teaching the class on a full time basis. The class is given under the auspices of West Linn Parks & Recreation. President Matto suggested that members volunteer to be responsible for one week a month. The Class Meets on Tuesday night from 7:00 to 10:00 PM in West Lynn.

The next Regional is coming up in 2016 and it will be in Tacoma watch for further announcements and plan to participate.  The Morano Hotel is an excellent venue so plan to attend.

The NATIONAL regularly sends newsletters to all members. They also send an annual survey of the chapters, George Matto responded recently to the survey of Chapters .

An opportunity to learn and share in an informal setting but it is early!
If you are up to early morning meetings, the “Godfathers” meet at 6:00AM at Denny’s on the corner of Scholls Ferry Road and Hall (not in the Mall).  Those early risers bring STUFF to talk about and not always but mostly horological.

George passed out a survey for all members present at this meeting to complete.  A copy was also in the TimeOut to be filled in and returned by mail or e-mail.  The results will be reported at the November meeting.

Program: Our Vice President, Jeff Eastwood brought the small scale tower clock that he machined and assembled using the plans presented by John Wilding for “clock project number 5”.  Synthetic motor oil by Mobil is used to lubricate the clock. Jeff also described how he set the clock up for us in our meeting room as well as describing the boners he made because he used different thickness metal plates recommended in the directions. The end result is a stunning time piece Jeff should be proud to have produced. There was a lot of kidding about where the clock would be located in his home.

Meeting was adjourned.

The next regular meeting will be at the present location on the third Sunday of the month.

Respectfully submitted,

Shirley Barden .
